Scolio-Pilates: Pilates for Scoliosis and Kyphosis
By Karena Lineback
For misalignments of the spine, the spine must be addressed in three-dimensions. Learn to use props to aid movement of the spine towards a neutral alignment. Once the neutral alignment is obtained, then strengthening around this new alignment will create the lasting change that we desire for our clients. Focus will include traction on the Pilates equipment, breathing techniques for spinal elongation/strengthening and specific Pilates exercises that accurately activate the muscles needed to change or correct the common misalignments of scoliosis and kyphosis.

OsteoPilates: Pilates For Osteoporosis

Unfortunately the prescription, exercise, can often be the very thing that creates a fracture in the first place. This workshop begins by reviewing the anatomy and contraindications of osteoporosis. You'll learn why specific exercises greatly reduces fracture risk even when bone density does not increase. And finally, you will acquire the skills to create safe, effective programming for those with osteoporosis.

Pilates Pre & Post Pregnancy
By Kathleen Hackworth
Taking a client through their pregnancy with confidence can be a challenge for many teachers. In this workshop we will review what exercises are appropriate for each trimester as well as for returning back to pilates after giving birth. We will also review what concerns both the teacher as well as the client may have and ways of modifying exercises to suit each client and their needs. Having gone through two pregnancies that were completely different, I realized in my second pregnancy, that my workouts would also be different. This workshop should have you, the teacher, feeling more confident in handling a pregnant client no matter what issues should arise.
